Biography:
The South African Police Service (SAPS) is the national police force of the Republic of South Africa. Fue establecido después de la Segunda Guerra Anglo-Boer en 1902, cuando las diversas colonias y repúblicas Boer fusionaron sus agencias de seguridad en un solo servicio. The SAPS has a long history of serving and protecting the citizens of South Africa, with its 1,154 police stations divided according to provincial borders. The service is headed by a National Commissioner, who reports directly to the Minister of Police. The SAPS has a wide range of responsibilities, including preventing and investigating crime, maintaining public order, and upholding the law. However, the service has also been criticized for instances of police brutality, torture, and extrajudicial killings.
