Biography:

Tanaka KEINYU XIV, also known as Tanaka KEINYU, was a Japanese artist born in Kyoto, Japan in 1918 and died in 1980. He was a member of the Raku family, a prestigious lineage of ceramic artists in Japan. He was the fourteenth in the line of succession and was known for his black Raku tea bowls. One of his most famous works is the black Raku tea bowl named 'Rinshô', which was authenticated by Sokuchûsai and was part of the ex-collection of the Raku family. He is considered one of the most important artists in the Raku tradition.
