Biography:

Taniguchi Kōkyō was a Japanese artist born in Kyoto in 1864. He was a pupil of Kôno Bairei, one of the most important Meiji painters, and was one of the founders of the Kyoto school of painting. He was known for his paintings of flowers and birds, and his work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from 332 USD to 8,944 USD. He died in 1915.
