Biography:

Thomas Coffeen was an American painter who was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1910 and died in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in 1985. He studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in San Francisco and later at the School of Plastic Arts in Guadalajara, where he obtained his master's degree. Coffeen was known for his abstract paintings and was considered an important painter who introduced various modern aspects to the Jalisco plastic. He lived in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, from 1948 until his death.
