Biography:
Henry Flather, also known as Thomas Henry Flather, was born in Sheffield, United Kingdom in 1839 and died in 1882. He was a photographer known for his work documenting the construction of the London Metropolitan and District Railways between 1866 and 1870. His collection of 56 albumen prints is held at the Science Museum Group Collection. He also photographed the construction of the London Metropolitan Railway, which opened in 1863 as the world's first public passenger underground railway. Flather's work has been exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Museum of London. In addition to his photography, Flather was also a member of the Royal Photographic Society.
