Biography:

Thomas Michael Ruff is a German photographer born in 1958 in Zell am Harmersbach, Germany. He is known for his conceptual serial photography and has been described as 'a master of edited and reimagined images'. Ruff studied photography from 1977 to 1985 with Bernd and Hilla Becher at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. He currently lives and works in Düsseldorf, Germany, sharing a studio on Hansaallee with fellow German photographers Laurenz Berges, Andreas Gursky, and Axel Hütte.
