Biography:

Vicente Nicolau Cotanda was a Spanish painter born in Sagunto, Spain in 1852 and died in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1898. He began his artistic training at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos de Valencia and later at the studio of Ignacio Pinazo. He gained recognition in the artistic community by participating in the exhibitions organized by the group recreativo El iris in 1880, where he won the silver medal for his works 'La aguja de marear' and 'Flor preferida'. In 1889, he moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he continued his artistic career.
