Biography:
Walter Lathrop Greene (1870-1956) was an American artist known for his paintings of horses and landscapes. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and studied art in the United States and Europe. Greene was a member of the Society of Animal Painters and exhibited his work in galleries and museums across the country. He was particularly known for his depictions of thoroughbred horses and was commissioned to paint portraits of many famous racehorses during his career. Greene died in 1956 at the age of 86.
