Biography:
Wang Jin is a Chinese artist born in 1962 in Datong, China. He is known for his sculptures, installations, and performance art. He graduated from the China Academy of Fine Arts in 1987 with a focus on traditional Chinese painting. His works often comment on the clash and fusion of new and old values by staging ironic combinations of foreign and Chinese symbols. One of his most famous works, 'Beijing - Kowloon', is a photograph. He is widely respected in Taiwanese politics, having served as President of the Legislative Yuan from 1999 to 2016, making him Taiwan's longest-serving legislative speaker. He is considered to be soft-spoken and a conciliatory figure who has often brokered deals between the KMT and opposition DPP.
