Biography:

Willem Johannes Oppenoorth was a Dutch painter born in Amsterdam in 1847 and died in Utrecht in 1905. He was known for his landscape paintings. Oppenoorth was educated at the academy in Amsterdam and later in Antwerp. He lived and worked in Amsterdam, Antwerp, and Utrecht. Oppenoorth's works are in the collections of the Rijksmuseum and the Musée d'Orsay. He is considered a significant artist in the development of Dutch landscape painting in the late 19th century.
