Biography:
William Baffin was an English navigator, explorer, and cartographer born in London around 1584. He is best known for his search for the Northwest Passage and his discovery of Baffin Bay. Baffin also conducted exceptional surveys of the Red Sea and Persian Gulf on behalf of the East India Company. He died in the Persian Gulf, off the island of Qeshm, on January 23, 1622.
