Biography:
William Magrath (1838 – 1918) was an Irish-American watercolour painter. He was educated at the Blue Coat School and the Cork School of Art. He was a follower of Alma Tadema and a figure painter. He was named in the Chief Constable's Special Branch Register as a 'suspicious Irishman' at 57 Bedford Gardens. He was known for his self-portrait and his painting 'On the Old Sod'.
