Winfried Georg Maximilian Sebald, known as Sebad, was a German writer born in Wertach, Germany in 1944. He died in Norwich, England in 2001. Sebad is considered one of the most revered German writers of the second half of the 20th century, with his best-known books including 'The Emigrants', 'The Rings of Saturn', and 'Austerlitz'. He was also a professor of literature at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England.
