Poussin creó dos juegos de siete sacramentos. , el primero si fue encargado por cassiano del pozzo , un erudito italiano y coleccionista de arte , y el set luego fue vendido a los duques de rutland en el 18th siglo . Quedan las siete pinturas, excepto “ Penitencia , ” que fue destruido en un incendio en el castillo de rutland belvoir en 1816 . “ Baptism” fue vendido a la national gallery of art en washington , dc en 1939 . las cinco pinturas restantes residen juntas en la galería nacional de londres. .
