This engraving is an impressive example of how quickly an artist reacted to the market and to changing public taste. The first version of the engraving evokes, with its figures dressed in teh fashion of the 16th century, the German past. Shortly thereafter, Wagner skillfully reworked the plate in part.The 1826 print is permeated with the spirit of the artist
