In her ‘Beyond Taboo’ collection, Rei Kawakubo questioned the traditional fetish areas of femininity, such as the bust and the behind, by deconstructing typical 1950s undergarments. In this look, the corset attached to a jacket in imitation leather no longer functions as a shape-enhancing girdle, and instead embraces the body beneath.
