Carlo Ruini was a 16th-century Italian physician and jurist. He was born into a family of jurists from Bologna, Italy. Ruini served as a member of the council of elders in Bologna and later became a senator of the city in 1578. His notable work is 'Anatomia del cavallo', which was published posthumously by his son Ottavio in 1598. The book is considered a milestone in veterinary publishing, featuring detailed woodcut images of equine anatomy.
