Frederick William Mayhew was an American painter, born in Chilmark, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, on July 6, 1785. He was known for his works, some of which are signed, but the biographical details of his life were not well known until recently. Mayhew worked in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. He died in 1854.
