Georges Noël was a French painter born in Béziers in 1924 and died in Paris in 2010. He studied engineering and painting. He worked for several years as a designer in Turboméca, Pau, France before he began his career as a painter. He was an important figure on the European scene in the 1960s, but in 1968 he left France for the United States, where he lived until 1983. He then returned to Paris and continued his painting career until his death in 2010. His work is associated with art informel and lyrical abstraction, but he always expressed his independence from any movement. He is known for his mixed media paintings and his use of vibrant colors.
