Richard Hall was born in Margate, Kent, England in 1952. He is a journalist, author, and historian who has lived and traveled throughout Africa and the Indian Ocean. He is best known for his work as a journalist and historian, and has also worked as a merchant banker, businessman, and politician in Rhodesia. He is not to be confused with other individuals named Richard Hall, including Richard Hall (politician) (1855–1918), Richard Edward Hall (1907–1977), and Richard Hope Hall (1924–2007).
