Willem Boshoff is a South African artist born in Johannesburg in 1951. He is known for his conceptual installations and his use of language and plant studies in his works. Boshoff grew up in Vanderbijlpark, where his father's work as a carpenter allowed him to develop a love for working with wood. He studied at the Johannesburg College of Art and received a master's degree in sculpture from Technikon Witwatersrand. He has exhibited his works both nationally and internationally and has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Johannesburg in 2008. He is considered one of South Africa's foremost contemporary artists.
