Angelin Preljocaj is a French dancer and choreographer of contemporary dance. He was born on January 19, 1957, in Sucy-en-Brie, France. Preljocaj studied classical dance before turning to contemporary dance with Karin Waehner at the Schola Cantorum. He then studied with Merce Cunningham in New York and worked with various companies, including Quentin Rouillier's company in Caen and Dominique Bagouet's company in Montpellier. In 1984, Preljocaj created his first choreography, Aventures coloniales, which was presented at the Montpellier Festival. He then founded his own company and has since created numerous ballets, including Mythologies in 2022. Preljocaj has also worked on film projects, such as the 2016 drama film Polina, directed by Valérie Müller and Angelin Preljocaj himself.
