James R. Klepitsch, also known as Jim Klepitsch, was a longtime photographer for the Chicago Sun-Times. He was born in Bensenville, Illinois, in 1942 and passed away in 2002 due to heart failure related to a liver illness. Klepitsch is known for his photograph of Mayor Harold Washington announcing his candidacy for the 1983 mayoral race at the Hyde Park Hilton, 4900 South Lake Shore Drive.
