Taguchi Beisaku (1864-1903) was a Japanese artist, born in Ibaraki Prefecture as the son of a rice merchant. He moved to Tokyo in 1873 and studied with Nakamura Banzan and later with Kobayashi Kiyochika. Beisaku is known for his woodblock prints depicting scenes from the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-95, which he designed as triptychs. He was also a cartoonist and played an important role in the creation of narrative strips. Beisaku worked at the Marumaru chinbun and was director of Kiyochika's art school in the mid-1890s. He died young at the age of 39.
