Carl Justus Fedeler was a German painter of ship portraits in Bremen and Bremerhaven. He was born on January 25, 1799, in Bremen, Germany. Not much is known about his early life and education. He married Marie Wilhelmine Voigt in 1824 and had three children, including another son who also became a marine painter. Fedeler worked as a sign painter and portrait painter before focusing on ship portraits. He exhibited his work at the Kunsthalle in Bremen between 1833 and 1856. Fedeler's style is characterized by detailed and realistic depictions of ships and seascapes.
