Jacopo Francia, also known as Jacopo Raibolini or Giacomo Francia, was an Italian painter and printmaker born in Zola Predosa around 1486. He died in Bologna in 1557. Not much is known about his early life and training, but he became one of the leading artists in Bologna during the sixteenth century. His style combined elements from the Venetian school with those of the Emilian tradition, resulting in a unique blend of elegance and naturalism. Francia was particularly renowned for his portraits, which are characterized by their psychological insight and refined technique. He also produced religious paintings, including altarpieces and frescoes, as well as prints and drawings. His work had a significant influence on subsequent generations of Bolognese painters.
