William Kenneth Armitage was a British sculptor born in Leeds on July 18, 1916. He studied at the Leeds College of Art and later at the Slade School of Fine Art in London before joining the British Army in 1939. After leaving the army, Armitage became head of the sculpture department at the Bath Academy of Art in 1946.
Armitage's work is known for its abstract and figurative forms, often depicting the human figure in various poses and movements. His sculptures are characterized by their exploration of the human form, reflecting his interest in the relationship between the body and its environment.
