Barbara Mary Quant was born on February 11, 1930, in Woolwich, London, England, and died on April 13, 2023, in Surrey, England. She was a British fashion designer and icon who became an instrumental figure in the 1960s London-based Mod and youth fashion movements. She played a prominent role in London's Swinging Sixties culture and was one of the designers who took credit for the miniskirt and hotpants. Quant was educated at Goldsmiths College and married Alexander Plunket Greene in 1957. She had one child.
