Biografi:
Iwao Yamawaki (山脇 巌, Yamawaki Iwao, 29 April 1898 – 8 March 1987), born Iwao Fujita, was a Japanese photographer and architect who trained at the Bauhaus. He was born in Nagasaki, Japan and studied architecture at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now the Tokyo University of the Arts) from 1921 to 1926. After his graduation he worked as an architect for the Yokogawa Construction Company and began to take photographs, which he submitted to the publications and exhibitions. In 1930, he and his wife Michiko traveled to Germany to study at the Bauhaus, where he studied photography under Walter Peterhans. After returning to Japan in 1932, he taught photography for 6 months at the Shinkenchiku kōgei (New Architecture and Design College), and then became a professor at the Tokyo College of Photography. He was a member of the Japan Photography Association and exhibited his work widely in Japan and abroad. He died in Tokyo in 1987.
