Venkat's artistic journey began at the age of 10, and by 16, he was assisting his uncle, Jangarh Singh Shyam, in Bhopal.

Venkat's early life was marked by a series of challenges, including working as a signboard artist, domestic help, and house painter. However, his introduction to Jagdish Swaminathan, the first director of Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal, marked a significant turning point in his career. Venkat's unique style and technique have been influenced by his experiences as a laborer, signboard artist, and house painter. Venkat has worked with various mediums, including murals, etchings, mixed media, and animation.
