In questo lavoro rivoluzionario , juan gris combinava viste interne ed esterne all'interno dello stesso dipinto . L'artista ha realizzato questa miscela di interni ed esterni attraverso elementi pittorici correlati e sottili modulazioni di colore , tra cui un intenso , blu soprannaturale che fonde il lavoro con una morbidezza sognante . Il primo piano contiene a still-life accordo con un giornale , libro , bicchiere di vino , caraffa , composta , e una bottiglia di vino médoc su un tavolo rovesciato . Questi oggetti vengono rifratti attraverso fasci di luce colorata dalla finestra aperta che porta le case e gli alberi vicini nella composizione , così come il baldacchino di foglie che incornicia la parte superiore dell'immagine come un ombrello .
