Jacopo Tatti, known as Jacopo Sansovino, was an Italian architect and sculptor, active mainly in Venice. Born in Florence in 1486, he trained as a sculptor under the guidance of Andrea Sansovino, from whom he took his name. In 1505, he moved to Rome, where he worked on several important projects, including the tomb of Pope Julius II. In 1527, he fled Rome following the sack of the city and moved to Venice, where he became one of the leading figures of the Venetian Renaissance. He died in Venice in 1570.
