He was a member of the Art et Liberté group, an Egyptian artistic and political movement active from 1938 to 1948, which was based mostly but not exclusively on Surrealism. He was known for his Surrealist paintings and his work has been exhibited in various museums and galleries, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the RoGallery in New York. He died in 2010.
