Jean Charost was a Parisian clockmaker who worked for King Frederick II of Prussia. He was known for his weight-driven clocks with recoil anchor escapement, seconds pendulum, and half-hour strike on a bronze bell. He was also known as Jacques Charost or Philippe-Pierre Charost.
