Biografie:

Kogan Gengei was a Japanese Zen Buddhist monk born in Niigata, Japan in 1748. He was a follower of Konoe Nobutada and became abbot of Kōgenji Temple in Hyogo Prefecture in 1789. He was known for his calligraphy and ink paintings, and was a follower of Hakuin Ekaku, an influential Zen Buddhist monk, painter, and calligrapher. He died in 1821.
