Yi Am, also known as Lee Am, was a Korean painter born in Seoul, South Korea in 1499 and died in 1566. He was a renowned painter and contemporary of Sin Saimdang, and was bestowed the rank title of Duseongnyeong by the king. Yi Am was known for his unique style in painting, which was distinct from the Chinese style of the Song dynasty. He created many portraits, including the portrait of King Jungjong of Joseon. Yi Am's paintings are famous for exhibiting the artist's own style, and his works have influenced later artists such as Kim Sik and Byeon Sang-byeok. He is known for his creative portrayal of animals, flowers, and small insects, which he drew by maximizing his observation.
