She died on May 18, 1859, in Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland, United States. She was the wife of Francis Scott Key, the author of the American national anthem 'The Star-Spangled Banner'. Mary Tayloe Lloyd Key was a quilter and is known for her work 'Grandmother’s Flower Garden' (1840, cotton).
