Biografi:

Takuju Kosen was a Japanese Rinzai monk of the Tokugawa period (1600–1867) who is regarded as the founder of the Takuju school of Japanese Zen. Takuju was the Dharma heir of Gasan Jitô (1727–1848), and a foremost disciple of Hakuin Ekaku (1685–1769). Takuju is known for his influential text on Zen practice called 'The Undying Lamp of Zen' (Shūmon mujintō ron), which gives an overview of Hakuin's views and practices. Takuju's style of Zen became one of the two streams of Hakuin Zen, along with that of Inzan Ien (1751–1814). Takuju's artworks are considered as Zen paintings (Zenga) and are highly valued in the field of Japanese art.
