Adelaide Milton de Groot was an artist, art collector, patron, philanthropist and genealogical hobbyist. She was born in New York in 1876 and died in 1967. De Groot owned work by, among others, J. B. C. Corot, and her collection of paintings of the 19th and 20th centuries has been on loan to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for several years. She was also a prominent art collector and philanthropist.
