Alyne Driver was an artist from the Cherokee culture who lived in the United States. She was born on June 4, 1943 and passed away on September 27, 1997 at the age of 54. Driver was known for her plaited white oak wall basket, which is part of the collection at the U.S. Department of the Interior Museum in Washington, DC. The Cherokee people, to whom Driver belonged, have a rich history and culture that can be traced back to the Mississippian Culture, which flourished in the southeastern United States from around 800 to 1600 CE. The Cherokee language is also an important part of their cultural heritage, and efforts have been made to revive and preserve it.
