Biografia:

Dai Benxiao (1621-1693) was born in Hezhou, Anhui province. His father Dai Zhong, a devotee of the Ming court, became a monk with the name Shi Lin. Dai Benxiao was a Chinese painter known for Scroll painting. Symbolic of survival in times of adversity, the pines, having been suddenly threatened, reflect the artist's uncertainty about his ability to find spiritual sanctuary in a world from which he feels alienated. His works often depict landscapes and nature, and are characterized by their expressive brushwork and rich coloration.
