Carlo Monaldi was an Italian sculptor born in Rome in 1691 and died in 1760. He was a teacher at the Academy of Portugal in Rome and an important name in the world of sculpture. He is known for his works in marble, such as the Statue of Saint Isaiah, created in 1732, and the Statue of St. Sebastian, created in 1731. He also created the Statue of Saint Vincent, which is located in the Basilica of Nossa Senhora e Santo António de Mafra in Portugal. Monaldi's works are characterized by their attention to detail and their ability to capture the essence of the subjects. He was a master of the Baroque style and his works are considered some of the most important examples of this style in Italian sculpture.
