Biografia:

Hashimoto Dokuzan was a leading figure in early twentieth-century Zen Buddhism, serving as abbot of the major monastery Shōkokuji in the city of Kyoto and served as chief, kanchō, of the Shōkokuji branch of the Rinzai sect. He studied under the leading Nanga painter Tomioka Tessai and later became a priest of the Rinzai sect. In 1909, he became a priest of the Shōkokuji branch of the Rinzai sect. He was also known by the art names Ryuho and Gengi.
