Biografia:

Takuro Kuwata is a Japanese ceramic artist born in Hiroshima in 1981. He is known for his exuberant and highly decorative pots, bowls, and cups. Kuwata studied traditional pottery techniques at the Kyoto Saga University of Arts and became an apprentice of the céramiste Susumu Zaima in 2002. In 2007, he graduated from the Tajimi City Pottery Design and Technical Center. He uses traditional Japanese ceramic techniques such as kintsugi, kairagi, shino, and ishihaze, which involves inserting minerals into raw clay that explode during firing, deforming the ceramic. Kuwata has exhibited in cities such as London, Brussels, Tokyo, and New York. He has received several awards, including the Encouragement Prize at the Asahi Modern Craft Exhibition in 2008 and was a finalist for the Loewe Craft Prize in 2018. Kuwata's work is represented by galleries such as Salon 94 in New York, Alison Jacques Gallery in London, and Gallerie Pierre Marie Giraud in Brussels.
