Zhu Duan was a Chinese artist who lived during the Ming dynasty. He was born around 1501 and died in 1551. Zhu Duan was particularly known for his work 'Peacock with Pine and Camellia', which he completed in 1518. The work is a hanging scroll made of silk and features ink and color. Zhu Duan was known for his strict military discipline and made a desperate attempt to assassinate the general Zhu Ci in 783, during the Tang dynasty. He was killed in the attempt.
