Samuel Hieronymus Grimm was an 18th-century Swiss landscape artist who worked in oils, watercolours, and pen and ink media. He was born in Burgdorf, Switzerland in 1733 and died in Covent Garden, London, England, UK in 1794. Grimm specialized in documenting historical scenes and events, and also illustrated books such as Gilbert White's The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne. He is known for his watercolours and wash drawings, and his patrons included Rev. Sir Richard Kaye, Henry Penruddocke Wyndham, and Sir William Burrell.
