Mitsuta Haruo is a Japanese artist born in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture in 1980. He is the only living artist who makes contemporary Jizai Okimono ('articulated animals') – flexible animal figures made from metal pieces, which can replicate the movements of the original animals. He is known for his expertise in metalwork and his unique art form, which is a traditional Japanese craft backed by Japan's technology in metalwork cultivated since the Edo Period. Mitsuta's work has been exhibited in various museums and galleries, and he has gained international recognition for his unique and intricate creations. He is also known for his collaboration with the Ultraman franchise, creating Jizai-okimono versions of the popular characters.
