Mykola Hlushchenko was a Ukrainian artist born in 1901 in Novomoskovsk, Ukraine. He was a winner of the Shevchenko National Prize in 1972. Hlushchenko studied at the Academy of Art in Berlin and worked in Paris from 1925, where he quickly gained the attention of French critics. His work is known for its Neue Sachlichkeit style, which emphasizes clear, objective representation. Hlushchenko died in 1977.
