Abraham Melnikov, also known as Avram Melnikov, was a sculptor, writer, and composer born in Bessarabia, Russia (now Moldova and Ukraine) in 1892. He studied medicine briefly before emigrating to the United States, where he settled in Chicago and began his artistic career. Melnikov is best known for his sculpture work, particularly the Trumpeldor Memorial at Tel Hai, Israel. He was also a founding member of the first Hebrew artist's guild in 1922. Melnikov died in 1960.
