Dries Van Noten is a Belgian fashion designer and an eponymous fashion brand. He co-founded the company with CEO and business partner Christine Mathys. Born on May 12, 1958 in Antwerp, he comes from a family of tailors. His father owned a men's clothing store and his grandfather was a tailor. Van Noten studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and graduated in 1981. He began his career as a fashion designer in 1986 when he presented his first collection with five other designers from Antwerp, known as the 'Six d'Anvers'. His creations quickly gained popularity among buyers around the world. In addition to designing clothes, Van Noten has also created costumes for several ballets by Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
